Had to laugh.

A woman just let her dog dump in a gravel area, close to the horse shoe pits. She covers it with hand fulls of gravel. She then visits with some people, and manages to step in her own pile :B

RE: CNN They report the news before it happens...

That's what I found funny - 2 days ago this storm was going to be a cat 5 and be one of the top 3 ever to hit the U.S. Reality: It was a cat 3 that fell to cat 2 right before making landfall. Then there was the expected huge increase in the price of oil/gas. Reality: Even though many rigs and refineries were shut down, the price of crude dropped $11 today. The hurricane was headed straight for N.O. Reality: It made landfall 72 miles away. The OP is right - there was lots of news reported before it happened, unfortunately most of it didn't actually happen. (And it doesn't matter of you're watching CNN, Fox, MSNBC, or the networks - it's the same all the way around.)
You are correct ;)

By the end of November, all you can do is cross your fingers or stay put.

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

Well said ,Strawfoot. Good to read some common sence here. Nuclear relieves pressure on oil usage and should be vigorously pursued.
Yes, good job.

Really up to the individual. No right or wrong as long as you can afford whatever it is, and meet all your other obligations ;)

RE: Pictures 40ft Toyhauler in Eastern Sierra

Great pics. Where are the tracks and what lake or river is down below? Thanks.
When I was in the Southern California Edison Hydroelectric Division, I was the Mono Basin Superintendent. I Used to live there at the Rush Creek Power house across the highway from Silver Lake until I bought a house in Mammoth Lakes in 1983.
The lake in the background is Silver Lake. The tracks are for a still used cable tram that takes maintenance workers from near the Power House up to Agnew Lake whenever maintenance is needed at the Dam Headworks. It's a VERY STEEP 1600 foot elevation change. There's another tram that goes back to a larger reservoir named Gem Lake, and the elevation change there is about 1000 feet but not quite as steep.
Thank-you.

RE: Maybe why RV Sales are down

We have bought two 2009 model 5th wheels this year, we were told several different times that about 65% of loan request are turned down due to bad credit or low credit numbers. In most cases you will have to have over 780 on credit report to get a good interest rate. GBY...
Congratulations on almost single-handed keeping the industry going :C

RE: New here about 2 purchase, Brand pros cons

Trailers are not unlike boats, in that after you look at a hundred, you will have an eye for quality and problems. Just like boats, the least expensive are lacking somewhere. Also if the price is too good to be true, look out. I would walk away from any signs of water leaks or a refrigerator$$$ that doesn't work.
You should have an adequate tow rig first, then don't even look at trailers too large for your rig.
Good luck and enjoy the quest.

RE: Tips on Grilling Shrimp

Sort of on/off the subject...
Does anyone know of a source in the Midwest to get American caught Gulf Shrimp? I've gone to dozens of stores. All I ever find is imported farm raised... Just like to support the local guys!
thanks
Absolutely,, Where can we get good ole USofA shrimp? the asia ones are not the same and don't have the same taste ot texture. in fact I haven't had shrimp in weeks for just that reason.. The Texas Coast is 500 miles away ,, not worth the drive with the cost of gas these days.
Some good sounding recipes for sure. I know what you mean about shrimp though. I remember when I was a kid, fishing out of Galveston, the bait shrimp then, would be sold as prawns now. lol
